Studio Artists

Amy Sullivan

Amy Sullivan is the owner and proprietor of The Pig and the Poppy Folk Art Gallery and a new member of the Canvas and Cork Family. Come visit Amy’s shop within a shop and take a walk on the whimsical side!

Beth Brightwell

Artist Beth Brightwell paints mainly jazz and blues musicians and singers in acrylic, pastel and charcoal. She also paints impressionistic scenery on old windows, makes beaded and copper wire wrapped jewelry and paints the wine glasses in the tasting room with different motifs and designs.

Mike Miller

Artist Mike Miller  specializes in commissioned portraits in oil as well as contemporary  palette knife paintings.

Carole Barker Kennedy

Artist Carole Kennedy paints landscapes and other north Georgia scenery and is known especially for her paintings of birds.

Helen Miller

Artist Helen Miller is our premier potter with extensive experience creating in clay as well as teaching. Helen works in a variety of glazes and finishes. She is also an expert in Chinense Brush Painting and teaches periodic classes in that medium.

Norma Hulsey

Artist Norma Hulsey loves painting for the public and talking to customers. You can often see her on our front porch painting away during nice weather. Norma has an extensive catalog of oil painting, still life, landscapes and plein air. Norma makes it all look so easy but her work is extrordinary!

Bryan Garris

Owner of Garris Audio Visual, Bryan is an old school photographer, producing his photogrphs by hand in the dark room. HIs black and white and sepia toned images are dramatic, even haunting, from architecture to the natural world of north Georgia, Bryan has an artistic eye and a designers ability to present work in a professonal style. 

Billy Roper

Artist Billy Roper .is a renowned self taught contemporary folk artist, highly collected world wide.

Janie Garrett

Artist Janie Garrett started at Canvas and Cork as a student and used her past experience as a water colorist to take on a new medium, alcohol ink,. She especially enjoys trees as her subject matter and now also teaches alcohol ink, especially for new students 

Cat Insley

Cat is a mixed media artist who brings her inventive and off the grid style of art to our gallery and to her highly creative classes next door at the Cottage.

Jim White “Jim Bob!” aka The Chicken Man

Jim’s a poplular fixture on the Dahlonega art and music scene and we are privileged to have his whimsical and warm watercolros in our gallery. Jim is another one of our art instructors giving regular classes in drawing and water color.

Wanda Smith

Wanda is an accomplished oil painter who also works in acrylics and is a much loved teacher in both mediums in the Dahlonega community. Her guided painting classes are regular fixtures on our weekly schedule.

Shelley Hassel

Shelley combines her love of bright colors and recycled materials to create vivid and whimsical works on barn wood, old saws, windows and more. Her creations are a pop of color for our wine tasters at the bar to enjoy! Shelley also teaches classes, facilitates wine and paint parties and teaches childrens art!
